Relationships


Relationships play a big part in our individual life road maps. Meaning that you can sometimes get lost and have to renavigate back to where you first started a specific journey or learn to renavigate the different roads you now find yourself faced with. If we stay on the same road time and time again and don’t venture off this and you are fine with this, that’s alright to. Sometimes though we need to renavigate and regroup to maximise the best route that our relationships can offer us. We are never given a complete road map with regard to our relationships and how to navigate this sometimes rocky and bewildering position we can find ourselves in. We are given many examples via family, friends, strangers, media and film portrayals of how we should or shouldn’t behave or expect from relationships. This can result in blurred and unrealistic expectations or outcomes to which we try and achieve, which can in turn result in not necessarily having the faith or trust in our ability to manage this.

We will all face at some stage in our relationships many forks, twists and turns with regard to our joint happiness and wellbeing. It’s how we manage these that is the key here. Your relationship is unique to you and your partner. Remember that. Try and not compare. If children are involved in this relationship this is another dynamic that can sometimes derail or bring great happiness. It’s how we learn to navigate this also. Again there is no manual for being the perfect parents or blended family.

Remember it’s you and your partner here. It’s how you both learn and navigate together is what matters most. You will both need a willingness and desire to pursue this. Sometimes we all need a little help to navigate around any type of relationship we can find ourselves in.
One essential aspect of any relationship is respect. This is for yourself, each other and family. This ingredient is necessary for the relationships to grow. Of course this can become eroded and worn down over time as well.
